Who Are We
TGI, Training Gate International is a nonprofit company established in 2009 in Kuwait. The focus of TGI is empowering people with disabilities with different aspects of their lives through several initiatives and programs.
Our Story
Mama Kefaya Rashid Al-Alban and her daughter Noura Al-Othman have been working together since 2007 to lay a solid foundation for the first non-profit company in the history of Kuwait dedicated solely to improving the lives of people with disabilities.
The unique story of a mother and daughter began in Kifaya's childhood and her love for Khawla Al-Khalaf, her friend in the neighborhood (Al-Fareej). Khawla has a physical disability, and she had an interest in making a positive change in the lives of people with disabilities. So after graduating from Kuwait University with a major in psychology, she worked as a kindergarten teacher at Al-Rajaa School of Special Education. Over time, she rose to the position of Head of School Activities Department and then to the position of Student Welfare Monitor, before retiring in 2005.

A similar childhood experience happened with Noura, when accompanying her mother to school activities where she made many friends with disabilities, Noura became one of the youngest children of volunteers and advocates to support people with disabilities in their various activities, and from here the mother and daughter team learned a lot from those experiences that led to their current work and mission.
Noura's first job was in the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, during this time she helped her mother establish TGI, after a comprehensive study that lasted three years to assess the needs and services provided to people with disabilities in Kuwait and the Arab Gulf states. This research resulted in identifying the gaps in services for people People with Disabilities, in addition to raising awareness of the capabilities of people with disabilities.
TGI’s efforts to implement inclusive education for persons with disabilities in Kuwait resulted in building bridges of cooperation and partnerships with the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and its International Division of Special Education and Services (DISES) October 2010. With the invitation of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the TGI team traveled to the United States with a delegation from the Ministry of Education to visit model public schools focused on integrating learners with disabilities with their peers without disabilities in the Washington DC area. Noura filmed a video documentary on inclusive program visits from kindergarten through high school and presented this documentary video to Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and assistant undersecretaries of the Ministry.
In 2011, Mama Kefaya and her daughter Noura decided to work with community initiatives that contribute to improving the lives of persons with disabilities and their families, (Dewan Samia), (Kelna Kids & Youth), (D Partners), (Hayat Platform), (D Voice), (TGI Members Club), (International Day of Persons with Disabilities).
